GoPro is one of the most versatile cameras, used by sports fanatics to record their incredible athletic feats like downhill bicycle racing, surfing, and sky diving. With their high quality videography, their sleek and small design, and their ability to be attached to your body, it's no wonder why the world adopted the GoPro so readily.
The company, founded by Nick Woodman in 2002, started when Woodman was on a surfing trip in Australia and was looking for good way to record a lot of high-quality action shots. Not being able to find any suitable cameras, he took it upon himself to build one. After a $230,000 investment from his parents, Woodman began growing his company which is now valued at over $2.95 billion dollars. Over time the cameras grew from just being used for sports, and its video codec was even used in the film Slumdog Millionaire because of how convenient it was with its 3D editing and the quality of its video.
GoPro has since evolved to produce more than just small cameras, and has even began branching out into the drone market, having released the GoPRO Karma in January of 2018. To this day they continue to release new software, always in an attempt to one-up themselves, whether it be by making the video quality clearer, or the size of the camera smaller. There really is no end in sight for this budding company.
