South Park got its debut on August 13th 1997 when best friends Matt Stone and Trey Parker released it on Comedy Central. Almost immediately South Park saw immense success and was consistently one of the best-rated television shows on any basic cable program.
The show follows four best friends, Eric Cartman, Kyle Broflovski, Stan Marsh, and Kenny McCormick as they engage in plenty of hijinks around the small Colorado town of South Park. Though an animated show, don't make the mistake of thinking it's for children. South Park has become infamous for having a very dark sense of humour, often tackling a variety of taboo and political subjects that most television shows wouldn't touch.
